BernCo Board Recognizes Jewel Hall, Co-Founder of MLK Multicultural Council

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners recognizes Jewel L. Hall for her dedication to the Bernalillo County community, as co-founder of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Council and champion for access to education and a just society, and wishes her the best in her post-retirement endeavors.

Jewell L. Hall came to Bernalillo County after teaching for many years in Louisiana and Michigan, eventually retiring from Albuquerque Public Schools, and on Oct. 12, 2017, she retired from the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Council, where she has served for the last 28 years.

Ms. Hall has served as co-founder, president and a continuous volunteer for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Council, building college scholarships, celebrations of Dr. King’s life and the “Keep the Dream Alive” community honors, amongst others, and earned emeritus status in the organization.

Ms. Hall has also served as member of the Rio Rancho school board, chair of the TV-I (CNM) Emeritus College Advisory Committee and president of the Albuquerque Northwest Retired Educators Association, in addition to many others.

Bernalillo County partnered with Ms. Hall and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Council to support the scholarship program for over 25 years.
