Day in Paradise a Success!

05/12/2016

The annual Day in Paradise community celebration was held Sunday, May 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Paradise Hills Park, 5901 Paradise Blvd. NW. Participants enjoyed games, a live DJ, great food, a climbing wall, and free laser tag for kids eight years and older, all at the free, family-friendly community event.

The 2016 Day in Paradise Outstanding Citizens were also honored for their community involvement.

“Each year, outstanding citizens are nominated by citizens from the Paradise Hills area who saw the great work they were doing,” says Bernalillo County Commissioner Lonnie Talbert. “We are proud to honor these outstanding citizens for being a shining example to the community.”

Congratulations go out to this year’s outstanding citizens:

  • Kelly Fisher is being honored for her numerous hours of volunteer work at Ventana Ranch Elementary School
  • Monica Garciasalas is the principal at Sierra Vista Elementary School and is being honored for her outstanding leadership at the school

In addition, the Cibola High School the girls’ soccer team was honored for winning the state soccer championship earlier this school year.

After the outstanding citizens’ ceremony, entertainment from community groups and a live DJ continued until 5 p.m.
