The Bernalillo County Fire Department covers multiple types of Wildland fire areas. 

These include the Sandia Mountains, as well as the Rio Grande Bosque.  All of the districts are considered to be Wildland terrain and our firefighters specialize in Wildland training. The true Wildland season usually occurs between the months of April thru till July. The season can always start earlier, depending on the type of winter that the state had experienced or it could last longer. Bernalillo County Fire Department has a Wildland team that consists of 40 members that can be deployed throughout the country.
