Bernalillo County has a formal process for renaming county buildings/facilities, which includes a committee hearing, a public comment period, and final approval by the Board of County Commissioners.

Proposal to Name an Unassigned Courtroom in the Bernalillo County Courthouse in Honor of the Late Chief Justice Charles W. Daniels

Naming an unassigned courtroom Albuquerque in honor of the late Charles W. Daniels will honor the 50 years of service to law, education, and civil rights in New Mexico of the former Chief Justice, a lifelong resident and practitioner of law in Bernalillo County, who advocated in the Second Judicial District.

Comments on the proposal will be shared with the Bernalillo County Naming and Memorial Committee.

The Naming and Memorial Committee makes recommendations to the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners regarding the naming and renaming of county buildings.

The Board of County Commissioners is expected to vote on the proposal at its Feb. 11, 2020 administrative meeting.
