Bernalillo County has a formal process for renaming county buildings/facilities, which includes a committee hearing, a public comment period, and final approval by the Board of County Commissioners.

Proposal to rename the Bernalillo County Courthouse at 400 Lomas NW in Albuquerque in honor of the late Charles W. Daniels

The name change is proposed to honor the 50 years of service to law, education, and civil rights in New Mexico of the former Chief Justice Charles Daniels, a lifelong resident and practitioner of law in Bernalillo County, who advocated in the Second Judicial District.

Two possible names for consideration:

- Charles W. Daniels Second Judicial District Courthouse
- Charles W. Daniels Bernalillo County Courthouse

Comments on the proposed name change will be shared with the Bernalillo County Naming and Memorial Committee.

The Naming and Memorial Committee makes recommendations to the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners regarding the naming and renaming of county buildings.
