The Bernalillo County Employee Recognition Committee presents seven employees to the Board of Commissioners to receive the recognition of Employee of the Quarter. Each person selected received the highest ranking in their division. The recognition committee ranked each nomination form submitted and selected the employee from each division with the highest average. The Board of County Commissioners recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of seven employees who have shown exemplary dedication to Bernalillo County.

Division 1 (County Manager) – Julie Anne Baca

“Julie Anne is a remarkable and valued employee whose impact and benefit extends to the entire county.”

Julie Anne joined the County as an Administrative Assistant with the Public Works Division nearly 12 years ago. Since then she has earned several promotions and has worked on special projects across Divisions. In April 2015 she joined the County Manager’s Office as the Commission Administrator and oversees the agenda item and meeting planning process for BCC meetings. She also leads special projects as requested, administers the MinuteTraq and Boards+ applications, and oversees and maintains over twenty-five Boards and Commissions.

When not working, Julie Anne enjoys watching just about anything PBS Masterpiece has to offer, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys visiting growers’ markets, day-trips around the state, and traveling in general. She’s looking forward to exploring the Northwest next month, when she will be travelling to San Francisco, Seattle, and Victoria, Canada.

Division 2 (Community Services) – Charlotte Chinana

“Charlotte demonstrates a true and genuine care for the work she performs and has the insight to improve work processes.”

Charlotte has been with the County Clerk’s Office Bureau of Elections as the Elections Project Technician for 3 ½ years. Her duties include poll official recruitment and hiring. She is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase awareness and foster participation from members of the community to serve as election workers at polling locations and on the Absentee Board during elections. As the need arises, she also assists other project areas within the Bureau of Elections.

Outside of work, Charlotte spends most of her time adventuring and exploring outdoors, and taking mini-vacations. She also enjoys creating art projects in various formats, reading, learning and trying new things. The more difficult and challenging it is, the more she enjoys it!

Division 3 (Finance) – Cameron Cave

“Cameron is a dedicated employee who focuses on customer service and is driven to learn the latest technologies.”

Cameron began his career at Bernalillo County in November of 2014 as an Intern in the Information Technology Department as a Service Desk Agent. When the opportunity presented itself, he was hired into a full-time PC Technician position with Human Resources Information Systems (now Information Technology People Systems), and later promoted to IT Analyst I. In addition to normal day-to-day duties of supporting the HR/Payroll system and other internal software applications, he is currently working on the Telestaff/Kronos Project and getting the software upgrade completed.

In his off time, Cameron enjoys spending time with his wife Noemi and 10-month-old daughter Camila. He also enjoys exploring the New Mexico outdoors through hunting, fishing, hiking and camping.

Division 4 (Public Safety) – Denise Acosta-Gonzales

“Ms. Acosta-Gonzales is normally the first one in and the last one out, and always with a smile on her face.”

Denise has been with the Youth Services Center for 3 years, and was recently promoted to Youth Program Officer II. She serves as the first-line supervisor to ensure shifts are fully staffed, and the units and facility security are maintained, to include resident searches and facility inspections. As a Safe Crisis Management instructor, she coaches new and veteran staff in the proper way to use Safety Crisis Management Techniques. She also conducts group or individual counseling sessions for residents. She never says “no” to a task, and when her tasks are complete, she always asks if anyone else needs assistance.

When not working, Denise likes to spend time with family and friends. She enjoys going to comedy, action or romance movies, and being outdoors playing basketball, hiking and riding her bicycle.

Division 5 (Public Works) – Matt Zamora

“Matt is a true professional who continues to expand his knowledge and takes pride in his work, and is always ready with a smile.”

Matt began his career with the County nearly 10 years ago in December 2007 as a plumber with Public Works Facilities & Fleet Maintenance Department. In June 2014 he promoted to Building Maintenance Supervisor for the downtown area, where he has had the pleasure of working with an outstanding crew. And just recently, in September, he was promoted to the HVAC/Plumbing Supervisor, and yet again he is surrounded by a fantastic group.

Matt has been married to his wife Lisa for 13 years and they have two young daughters, Aubrey and Amy. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors at places like Magdalena Mountain where he and his family can backpack, camp, hunt, fish, and ride four-wheelers.

She embraces the many and varied responsibilities that this position administers. From procuring materials for events to arranging travel, and everything in between, she handles each task with grace and meticulous detail.

Jennifer loves being a mom to her daughter Justyce, who is a sophomore at Western New Mexico University, currently majoring in Psychology. She is blessed with a loving family, friends, and love-of-her-life and soulmate Tommy, all of whom help “make life good.” She looks forward to attending all of her daughter’s softball games and also her two nephews’ sporting events. She also enjoys dancing and traveling to faraway places.

Division 7 (MDC) – Dena Wisdom

“Dena is passionate and proud to be an employee of MDC. She does her work faithfully, not to be seen or applauded but because she has found her purpose in life.”

Dena began working at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center as an Administrative Assistant Senior, supporting the Chaplain in countless ways, in February 2017. BUT, she volunteered there for two years prior to that, an indication of just how passionate she is about what she does and where she does it.

Cash and Sargent Clara Maestas; and the niece to retired Correction Officer Lieutenant Michael Maestas. She is a devoted wife to Mark Wisdom, and mother of two adult sons Joshua and Geoffrey.
