In-Person Absentee Voting begins Oct. 8, 2019

10/07/2019

Bernalillo County Clerk Linda Stover announces in-person absentee voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at the Clerk’s Annex, 1500 Lomas Blvd NW in Albuquerque and continues through Oct. 18. Annex hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In-person absentee ballots can be cast by any eligible voter. During in-person absentee voting, registered voters can request, fill out and submit their absentee ballot in one visit.

“You might think of it as early, early voting” says Bernalillo County Clerk Linda Stover. “It’s especially useful if you’ll be traveling or otherwise indisposed during the weeks leading up to Election Day. Or maybe you just want to be the first among your friends to vote!”

The regular local election will take place on Nov. 5, 2019 and in Bernalillo County includes candidates and ballot questions for the City of Albuquerque, Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Village of Tijeras, Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA), Paradise Hills Special Zoning District, Ciudad, Edgewood and Valencia Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and Ventana West Public Improvement District.

The election is the result of the Local Election Act which went into effect in 2018. Prior to that, local governments could conduct multiple elections throughout the year. The Local Election Act aims to improve efficiency and reduce the costs associated with administering multiple elections. It also aims to provide a more consistent experience for voters and increase voter turnout by eliminating the confusion surrounding when an election takes place and where people can vote.

For all your election questions, call the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office at 505-243-VOTE (8683), email clerk@bernco.gov and visit us on the web at Bernco.gov/clerk.
