Bosque Chile Festival Set for Aug. 17

06/25/2019

Registration for artisans, value-added producers/growers, food trucks, and both amateur and professional cooks for the “chicharron challenge” is now open for the Fourth Annual Bosque Chile Festival.

New this year is the Disc-It sponsored Chicharron Challenge that will feature both amateur and professional cooks and chefs frying up their own versions of this tasty piggy treat. A panel of judges and people who attend the event will cast their votes for the winners. Entry fee for the chicharron challenge is $25 and includes the pork meat for the competition.

Bosque Chile Festival organizers are seeking high-quality chile inspired and authentic New Mexican traditional, cultural, and heritage wares that fit within the event’s theme of celebrating food, art, and culture along the Rio Grande to provide an authentic New Mexican experience for the patrons. Artisans, craftspeople, value-added producers, fresh produce growers are highly encouraged to apply.

Food truck, value-added vendor, and artisan fees range from $100 - $300 for early-bird rates, which increase after July 10. There is a juried process for vendors. Alcohol vendors are also being solicited.

To sign up for the friendly competitions, become a vendor and/or learn more about the event, please visit www.bernco.gov/bosquechilefestival.

The Bosque Chile Festival is a unique celebration of food, art and culture in New Mexico’s Middle Rio Grande Valley. The event will take place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th Street SW, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. Admission is only $5 and kids five years and under are free. Park and Ride shuttle service will also be available.

This event is presented by Bernalillo County and the National Hispanic Cultural Center and proudly sponsored in part by SUNPRO solar energy specialists, Waste Management of New Mexico, Bueno Foods, Inc., Dave & Buster’s, and G&S Meats.
