Back-To-School Fun with BernCo

It’s back-to-school time in Bernalillo County! Registration is happening now for our award-winning pre-school, before school, and after school programming for kids from pre-school to eighth grade.

Parky’s Pals

Designed for four- and five-year old minds and bodies, Parky’s Pals features activities like music, painting, arts and crafts, outdoor activities and field trips. Program days run Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 31 – Dec. 17, 2015 and Jan. 5 – April 28, 2016. Cost is $36 per four weeks; $230 flat rate for the length of the program, plus registration fees. Note: updated shot records are required before children can be registered for the program.

Before School Program

Starting at 7 a.m. Monday – Friday, the before school program is for kids grades K – 8. Transportation to area elementary and middle schools is included; cost is $212 per child flat rate for the school year or $64 per nine-week school session per child, plus registration fees.

After School Program

The county’s after school program starts from the school’s dismissal time through 6 p.m., Monday – Friday for kids grades K – 8. Flat rate is $312 per child for the full school year, $98 per child for a nine-week school session, or $18 per quarter per child for a Wednesday only plan, plus registration fees.

All programs are held at Los Padillas, Los Vecinos, Mountain View, Paradise Hills, Raymond G. Sanchez, Vista Grande and Westside Community Centers. Centers have differing registration procedures and programs fill up quickly; please visit the center’s respective pages for more information.

Rachel (1907-1964) was a marine biologist when few women dared to even tread water. Her early childhood was spent exploring nature in western Pennsylvania. She wrote the book Silent Spring in 1962, which revealed the damaging use of the chemical compound DDT. It was banned in the United States in 1972. Ann Beyke has performed in local film, theater, television, radio plays and as a voice-over artist for over 25 years.
