    Community Schools in Action

Over the past two years, the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Community School Partnership has been the focus of some very favorable national and local news stories about the partnership’s socially and academically successful “Homework Diner” program, which brings students and their parents together with school staff for an evening meal and help with homework.

ABC Community Schools itself has also been the subject of discussions within the community about the need for a new model of schools which can serve as the hubs of their communities – with ABC Community Schools set forth as a worthy model.

Here are a few of those stories as they appeared on national and local media.

    • Part Two
    • In June 21, 2014, NBC News came back for Part Three, about how the program is spreading to other New Mexico schools

KOAT-TV:  The local ABC affiliate featured a story recently about how AT&T donated $10,000 to  Highland High School's College & Career Diner. The program is an outgrowth of the ABC Community School’s “Homework Diner” program for younger students.

Transcript: A big company has made a big donation to help local students. This evening, AT&T presented a $10,000 check to the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Community School Partnership. The money will go toward Highland High School's College & Career Diner, a program that provides a hot meal and resources like college prep, tutoring, and career counseling to families. The money is going to help the program into the next school year, as well purchase supplies and meals for the kids. The program is an outgrowth of the ABC Community School’s “Homework Diner” program for younger students.
