Awards of Excellence: Innovation at Work Award

Bernalillo County is awarded the National Council for Behavioral Health (NATCON) Innovation Award, which recognizes honorees in a complex health care landscape, mental health and addiction treatment organizations who are thinking “outside of the box” for creative solutions to challenges.

In the past five years, the Behavioral Health Initiative has launched over 23 programs, infused over $20 million into the behavioral health industry by collaborating with service providers, committed more than $70 million to behavioral health projects and served more than 50,000 people.

The National Council for Behavioral Health is the unifying voice of America’s health care organizations that deliver mental health and addiction treatment services. The council works with over 3,000 members and organizations who serve over 10 million adults, children and families living with mental illness and addiction every year. NATCON is committed to all Americans having access to comprehensive, high-quality care that affords every opportunity for recovery.

“It is an honor to be recognized for the important work of the Behavioral Health Initiative in our community. Our staff and our volunteers are the backbone of this project and show that we can unite with a shared goal, while addressing the needs of behavioral health in the community,” says Julie Morgas Baca, county manager.
