After Five Years, County Employees Receive 3 Percent Cost of Living Increase

02/26/2018

Bernalillo County – After a five-year span with no salary increases, Bernalillo County is now able to offer pay increases to its non-union employees.

County Manager Julie Morgas Baca has announced that all non-union county employees will receive a 3 percent cost of living allowance and a one-time payout of $1,000, effective with the March 9, 2018, scheduled pay day.

“We are still working to become a leaner, more efficient organization, and our finances are, thankfully, stable enough to offer employees raises this year,” says County Manager Julie Morgas Baca.

Non-union county employees will receive:

  • 3 percent pay raise
  • $1,000 one-time payout per non-union employee
  • Annual leave conversion allowing employees, with accrued time, to take payment for up to 40 hours per year
  • Increased personal holiday leave from two to three days per fiscal year
  • Bereavement leave for probationary employees

The financial impact to the county is $2.1 million annually in recurring funds and $1million in one-time payouts.
