New Mexico Mission of Mercy Seeking Patients

The state’s largest charity event, the New Mexico Mission of Mercy, is coming to the Albuquerque Convention Center September 22-23. This two-day free dental clinic hopes to provide 1,500 patients with more than $1 million in donated care.

Bernalillo County is proud to sponsor this year’s Mission of Mercy. The county has allocated $45,000 plus in kind services to help provide more dental care to the people of New Mexico.

“We are extremely pleased to bring the sixth New Mexico Mission of Mercy back to Albuquerque,” stated New Mexico Dental Association Foundation Executive Director Linda Paul. “This all volunteer event shows the generosity and compassion of our community to come together to change lives.”

Doors will open to the event at 5:30 AM on both days, services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and continue until capacity is reached.

Dental volunteers will provide basic care such as fillings, extractions, and cleanings. Limited lab work (for example, temporary partials) and limited root canal therapy will be offered if volunteers are available to provide the services. All patients will receive preventive dental education and instructions on how to properly maintain their oral health.

For a complete run down of event services, parking, childcare, and other frequently asked questions, please visit nmdentalfoundation.org or see the attached information sheet.

The past five NM MOM events (Santa Fe, Sandoval County/Rio Rancho, San Juan County/Farmington, Las Cruces and the first event in Albuquerque in 2010) served more than 6,900 patients and provided $4.9 million in donated dental care.

More on the New Mexico Mission of Mercy: The New Mexico Mission of Mercy (NM MOM) is a program of the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation, a 501c3 public charity and the charitable arm of the New Mexico Dental Association. The event occurs every 15 to 18 months and provides free dental care for underserved adults and children with the help and generosity of community volunteers, dentists and others. Major sponsors for the 2017 event are Bernalillo County, the United Way of Central New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque.
