Bernalillo County Increases Emergency Operations Center Status to Level 2

03/18/2020

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham mandated changes to the coronavirus (COVID-19) closure and exposure requirements today and in response Bernalillo County is increasing the status of its emergency operations center to level 2.

The level 2 designation allows the county to bring in command, general staff and emergency support functions including but not limited to finance, law enforcement and operations support. Emergency sections are now in direct contact to facilitate the flow of requests for supplies and direct funding.

The highest level designation is level 1 and brings in all county operations to the emergency operations center for direct interaction and the site is manned full-time until the event is reduced to level 2.

Changes to the emergency operations center designations are a joint decision of the county manager, director of emergency operations and the fire chief.
