Finance



Provide programs, services and activities to reduce the incidence of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) related fatalities and to reduce the impact of alcoholism, alcohol abuse, drug dependence and drug abuse on the community and make Bernalillo County a safer and healthier place to live and drive. Decrease the impact on the criminal justice system, primarily the revolving door at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. Improve and strategically provide services to those experiencing behavioral health issues in the community though joint efforts while leveraging resources through community and stakeholder input.


Behavioral Health 

  • Stably house individuals with behavioral health needs
  • Prevent substance abuse and psychological distress through early identification - Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Improve services in the community that will stabilize individuals and prevent crisis
  • Crisis response and link to services for stabilization and recovery

Addiction Treatment Services

  • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) enforcement
  • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and substance abuse prevention (Adults and Youth)
  • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and substance abuse treatment (jail based, outpatient and intensive outpatient)
  • Alternatives to sentencing (jail diversion)
  • Tracking (treatment)
  • Evaluation (ensure evidence based / best practices, fidelity and compliance)
  • Social model detox
  • Transitional living (case management)
