Inmate Duwin Perez-Cordova, 27, (DOB 09/10/90) was released from MDC and dropped off downtown near 4th St and Roma Ave NW, where he was last seen. Law enforcement agencies in the surrounding areas have been notified that the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department is attempting to bring Perez-Cordova back into custody. An active felony warrant for escape from custody has been issued for him.

Perez-Cordova had been held at MDC since December 2017 on several charges including:

  • Attempt to Commit a Felony (First Degree Murder, Felony Murder)
  • Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle
  • Shooting at an Occupied Building
  • Aggravated Battery (Great Bodily Harm)
  • Receiving or Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicle

Perez-Cordova’s recent booking photos are attached. He has several tattoos, including a money sign on his elbow and a money sign, an Impala sign and “RIP Marcus” on his left arm. He goes by several different aliases including:

  • Gilbert/Gilberto Rodriguez
  • Duwin Perez
  • Duwin Cordova-Perez

Perez-Cordova was also being held on a federal warrant. He is considered violent and should not be approached by the public. Anyone with information about Perez-Cordova’s whereabouts is asked to call the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department at 798-7000 or 911.

An internal investigation by MDC officials is underway to determine how this happened, but the current focus is apprehending Perez-Cordova. Media will be updated as new information is available.
