    Professional Visitor Definition

    • Law enforcement personnel
    • Private attorneys
    • District attorneys and public defenders

    Rules and Regulations:

    1. Entry will be granted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  If an attorney visit is being conducted during this time, the attorney will be permitted to complete his/her business. Any entry other than during the times designated above must be approved by the MDC security major or his/her designee.

    2. All professional visitors must provide the following:

    • Valid New Mexico driver’s license or ID card
    • Bar Association ID
    • Agency ID (APD, BCSO, PD, DA etc.)

    All other professional visitors must obtain approval from MDC administration prior to entering the security perimeter

    3. Dress code:

    • Professional dress only
    • All visitors must wear shoes at all times, shoes must be fully enclosed, no open-toed shoes are permitted

    4. Professional visitors will be allowed to bring in the following items: Paperwork, briefcases, and writing material related to the visit. All electronic devices and all other items must be approved by MDC administration.

    5. The following items are NOT allowed:

    • Weapons
    • Smoking material; tobacco

    Note: The Chief of Corrections reserves the right to authorize items at his/her discretion.
