Canines: Lifelines at the Youth Services Center

The Paz Project at Bernalillo County’s Youth Services Center (YSC), a canine education, therapy and enrichment program begun in January, is promoting a positive culture in the lives of at-risk youth, educating residents at the detention facility about “The Link” between animal abuse and community violence.

Second Hoop Garden Dedicated at Youth Services Center

On April 22, 2016 - Earth Day - Bernalillo County Commissioner Debbie O’Malley and the Youth Services Center invited the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new greenhouse on the east campus of the center outside the secure perimeter of the juvenile detention facility.

Canine Therapy Program To Launch Pilot Program Called "The Paz Project"

In 2016, YSC will expand its successful Canine Therapy Program to include The Paz Project – an effort to educate at-risk youth about the devastating and multi-dimensional effects of animal maltreatment on community safety.
