Youth Services Center

Academic programming for YSC residents is provided in partnership with The Albuquerque Public School District, which supports a fully functional Title I alternative school within YSC and follows the APS calendar schedule.

Academic instruction is provided by APS teachers in all core content areas with an emphasis on literacy, technology, and graduation. Attendance and grades can be transferred upon release to their next educational setting.

The School also works with Central New Mexico Community College to coordinate efforts associated with students identified as candidates for the GED exam. YSC is a designated testing site for the exam, which is administered here four times annually.

And continued educational opportunities are provided through the use of NOVANET to general education high school students who have been suspended or expelled for major infractions of the disciplinary code.  An alternative program is also provided to middle and high school youth who are receiving court mandated services (i.e. The Community Custody Program, The Youth Reporting Center, and the Girls Reporting Center).
