Bernalillo County Commissioner Lonnie Talbert to Attend ‘Ella’ Party

There won’t be any plastic tea sets at this tea party; it’s the real thing at a real tea room.

District 4 County Commissioner Lonnie Talbert will be putting on his best outfit for an afternoon of tea with Barbie’s friend, Ella, and cancer fighting patients from the Presbyterian Medical Group Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program.

Presbyterian Medical Group has teamed up with Mattel, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, and Bernalillo County to host the tea Party at the St. James Tea Room at 320 Osuna, N.E. on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity for the county to help these young patients realize they’re not in this fight alone,” says County Commissioner Vice Chair Lonnie Talbert. “This is a marvelous event outside of the hospital with the opportunity to spend a few hours, puttin’ on the ritz, and leaving their struggles at the door.”

Ella dolls are made specifically for cancer patients and have no hair. Hair loss is often an unfortunate side effect of cancer treatment.

Each pediatric cancer patient will be given a free Ella doll along with the tea party.
