Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Bernalillo and the City of Albuquerque

Meeting Time/Location

First Thursday of the month (does not meet in May, July or December), 5 p.m., Main Library


The duties of the Bernalillo County Library Board are as follows: (1) to determine actual operational policies for the County Library such as hours open, schedules, fees and charges, selection of new books, special services, maintenance, etc.; (2) to select and recruit qualified and competent workers for the Library; (3) to plan for the future expansion of the Library; and (4) to plan services that it shall provide, such as acceptance of gifts, raising of funds, arranging the physical plant, etc.


The Library Board shall consist of Fifteen (15) members as follows: Eleven (11) members shall be appointed by the City of Albuquerque; and four (4) members shall be appointed by the County Commission of Bernalillo County. Ex-officio members shall include the County Librarian and a representative of Bernalillo County Government. Vacancies on the Board shall be filled by appointment by the County Commission as recommended by the remaining Board members.

All members shall be registered voters of the County. Members shall be appointed for three-year terms and may be appointed to serve up to two consecutive terms.
