Last Week for Identity, Continuance Exhibit at Gutierrez Hubbell House

It is the last week to visit the exhibit Genízaro Continuance and Identity at the Gutiérrez Hubbell House, 6029 Isleta Boulevard SW in the South Valley.

Genízaro Continuance and Identity tells the story of contemporary Genízaro lifeways and rituals. Through regalia, photography and historical documents, the exhibit shares the resilience and persistence of this pervasive New Mexican culture. Learn more about new identities and communities formed among diverse Native Americans removed from their lands, cultures, languages and families.

Genízaro Continuance and Identity is co-curated by Moises Gonzales, along with other Genízaro community members from Cañón de Carnué and Atrisco, and Hubbell House Alliance co-curator Katherine Córdova.

The exhibit’s last day is Saturday, June 1. The Gutiérrez Hubbell House is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Free guided tours are available during all hours.

Genízaro Continuance and Identity is a free experience. Interpretive tours are available in English and Spanish. For more information, please call (505) 244-0507 or email gutierrezhubbellhouse@gmail.com.
