Bernalillo County and Silver Horizons will again offer free groceries to low-income seniors (60+) at two drive-thru grocery pickup events.

  • Friday, March 26, 2021, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Rio Bravo Senior Center parking lot, 3910 Isleta Blvd SW (map)
  • Wednesday, March 31, 2021, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Sherriff’s Posse Outdoor Facility, 10308 Second St NW (map)

“There are seniors in Bernalillo County who need an assist right now,” says George Schroeder, senior and social services manager. “If that’s you, please come and pick up some free groceries.”

“These drive-thru events allow us to provide food assistance while keeping seniors and volunteers safe,” says Ron Hidalgo, executive director, Silver Horizons. “Please follow the signs, wear a mask and remain in your vehicle."

Organizers will be following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Food will be pre-packed and volunteers will be wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing their hands. Seniors may begin arriving at 10 a.m. Everyone must wear a mask and seniors must remain in their vehicles at all times.
