Metropolitan Detention Center

The Metropolitan Detention Center has enabled remote inmate visiting as of Thursday, March 19. Those wishing to use the remote visitation system must go to to create an account.

If visitors have already created an account for visiting at the facility or for tablet services, there is no need to create another account.

MDC will have to verify the accounts before visits can be set up. Professional visitors, such as public defenders and attorneys who are already in the MDC system, have already been verified.

“Although visitation at MDC has been suspended due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, we are now allowing each inmate to have two remote video visits a week,” says MDC Chief Ralph Fernandez. “Each inmate will receive one free 15-minute video visit each week for one month and will be charged for the second video visit.”

For family members and friends, there is a charge of $.25 per minute with a maximum of 30 minutes per video visit for this service.

Remote visits will be available on a first come, first served basis for all living areas from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All remote visits, excluding attorney-client privileged visits, will be monitored and recorded.
